There were 16, a small number that marks a success, however, as explained by Philip, one of the volunteers who a year ago, along with Ico and a few others, opened the office in Italy. For those not already familiar with the association, the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society was founded in 1977 by Captain Paul Watson with the goal of preservation of the oceans and marine life around the world. The association has become famous mainly thanks to the war that the Sea Shepherd ships each year fighting in the oceans around the world to save whales from slaughter by the Japanese whaling fleet. There are many other battles of Sea Shepherd and its crew. Among the best known, the one against slaughter of pilot whales in the Faeroe Islands , the murder of dolphins in Taiji is happening in Japan ( narrated by Oscar-winning documentary "The Cove" ) and the ruthless execution of the seal pup March each color of red the white ice of Canada. Captain Watson to help in the defense of the ecosystem ocean and its inhabitants, each year volunteers come together from all over the world, ready to fight to protect whales, dolphins, seals and sharks.
Sea Shepherd, which is also involved in illegal fishing in the Mediterranean bluefin tuna (for the most part the sushi back in Japan), search in Italy and especially in Milan, voluntary land. "The most important thing is the information and public awareness," says Philip, "so we are trying to raise awareness of the association as much as possible including the organization of events and the presence of our banquets during evenings and concerts in Milan. Just so we are looking for volunteers to enable us to be present in the evenings as possible and to organize events for the dissemination and awareness. "
